IN THE NEWS

What a busy month April was just as I was about to add to the news page and when I looked up and it was the end of May.
My brother Lewis Alan Coil passed away on April 30th, 2010 at the age of 56, He will be missed by many family and friends. We have a small gathering at the grave yard (where our parents are buried) planned with a few family members to spread his ashes later this summer.
After spending the first 10 days of the month in Michigan taking care of my brothers affairs, I finally made it back to the old home sted just long enough to catch my breath before I had surgery on my shoulder for a torn rotor cuff on the 13th of May. So now I am in a sling for 6 weeks with a full recovery not expected until 3 to 6 months. So if I am a little slow getting back to you on those emails just remember I am right handed and my right hand is in a sling so I am trying to type with my left hand.......lol
On a brighter note I did have lasik eye surgery on the 18th of May and I no longer have to wear glasses 20/20 vision again....except I do have to wear glasses if I want to read anything or use the computer. I do love not having to wear them all day long though. If your thinking about Lasik surgery I would highly recommend it.

Spring is in the air! Here it is the end of March already. We have been very busy around here, our daughter is in the process of buying a house  so or course we are trying to make sure she gets the best house she can get for the money. Although I think she wishes we would just go away and leave her to make her own mistakes.
Then,  Dad is doing a little remolding at his place on the lake or should I say - we have been remolding Dad's place for him, he is more of a supervisor than anything else these days but at 75 years old I guess he deserves to just tell us what to do for a change.
So many things to do................ on a lighter note I found this articial about Crufts Dog show and wanted to share it with everyone it sure made me laugh.       Streaker dashes around arena at Crufts, world's largest dog show    who would of thought........a cat mask among all those DOGs.

Mystic Mountain Kennels Expanding : 02-15-10

Wow! This year has come in with a rush and going by so fast it is hard to keep up with what is going on.  After much thought and deliberation Mystic Mountain Kennels has decided to expand into the world of Shih Tzu puppies.    We are pleased to have had help from Mary Carraway a show breeder in VA. Mary spent hours on the phone with me explaining
Shih Tzu standards and colors. Mary was also gracious enough to sell me some of the most exquisite Shih Tzu's that I have ever seen Talk about Champion bloodlines. These dogs have it all. Check out our adult dogs page to see pictures of the new additions to our family.
Our first litter of Shih Tzu should arrive late summer.

The American Kennel Club is the only purebred dog registry which mandates both registration as well as care and condition quality control standards enforced through ongoing rigorous inspections of the A.K.C. Breeders. An American Kennel Club representative  recently visited us here at Mystic Mountain Kennels he inspected our kennels along with our puppy nursery and could not find anything wrong with our breeding program. He passed us with flying colors, we take pride in our kennels and knew it was not going to be a problem but  it sure was nice to get a pat on the back from A.K.C.

Lates puppy scams BEWARE!!!  : 12-07-09

Dog lovers are reporting a new scam cropping up on the Internet – the puppy scam. Classified ads in newspapers and online promise a free puppy, as long as the victim agrees to pay for shipping.

Actually, like most scams, the puppy scam has been around awhile. In fact, Canada’s Phonebusters warned about the puppy scam several months ago.

“Much like other advance fee scams this involves the promise of a puppy when all the necessary fees are paid,” the anti-fraud site warns. “Ads are placed in newspapers and the Internet and usually involve someone that has moved or is moving or resides in another country.”

In this latest incarnation of the scam, the dog owner is said to reside in Africa. In some cases he says he is an American, serving in the Peace Corps. He promises to send the dog once the victim sends $200 to pay for shipping.

Usually there is another request for more money, explaining there were some complications clearing customs. If the victim pays the second fee, the scammer usually disappears.

In order to avoid these types of scams, Phonebusters offers this advice:

• Know whom you are dealing with - independently confirm your seller's name, street, address, and telephone number.

• Resist pressure to “act now.” If an offer sounds to good to be true it usually is.

Beware of Breeders who are unwilling to let you see there kennels

this is a huge red flag for puppy mills.

SMALLEST YORKIE IN THE WORLD!!!

Mystic Mountain Kennels has bred and owns what is believed to be the Smallest Living Yorkshire Terrier in the World. Meet Tinkerbell she was born on October 26th, 2008. As an adult Tinkerbell now  weighs 1.7 pounds. My husband is positive that Tinkerbell is the smallest Yorkie alive and keeps telling me to call Guiness Book of World Records. I am not sure how to go about proving that though.
